Mine-blast injuries account for nearly 20% of all cases at Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital, which continues to operate under constant shelling. The hospital has nine operating rooms, and during heavy attacks, all of them may be in use simultaneously. Doctors work at the limits of their capacity to save lives, yet the need for modern medical equipment remains critical.
When a patient is on the operating table, it is crucial to act with maximum speed and precision. Accurate localization of fragments and minimally invasive intervention significantly increase the chances of a successful outcome. An essential tool in such surgeries is the C-arm — an X-ray device that provides high-precision imaging. Thanks to its C-shaped design, the X-ray tube and detector can rotate around the patient, offering multi-angle visualization in real time during the operation.
For the C-arm to function effectively, especially when imaging the torso, a radiolucent surgical table is essential. It allows X-rays to pass through freely without creating obstructions or shadows, providing clear and high-contrast images for accurate detection of fragments.
💙💛 In December, Kharkiv Regional Clinical Hospital received its first radiolucent surgical table — a significant step toward enhancing the effectiveness of medical care. This equipment was procured through the cooperation of the charitable foundation UA Brokers Without Borders with UNDP Ukraine and with financial support from the Government of Japan.
This joint initiative will help medical professionals save even more lives, as modern equipment opens new opportunities for precise and successful surgeries.
